Blogging in the classroom

I have been doing allot of research on blogging in the classroom. My thoughts on this subject is why is it taking so long for educators to get on board? We have the opportunity to get our students to write more, use organizational skills, and should I mention use critical thinking. What a deal!

Web 2.0 Technologies

I recently attended an Educational Excellence Institute on Web 2.0 technologies. Wow! My eyes were opened by the learning experience that can be obtained by opening up our minds and communicating with others. The read/write world of Web 2.0 technology contains Wiki's, blogging, Google Docs, Podcasting, and Ustream and these are only a few of the tools available to engage, encourage, empower, and reach for the stars. The one point that stayed with me throughout this learning experience is that we as educators need to be mentors in the usefullness of these technologies. Our job is to continually encourage critical thinking and analysis of the information we read.

Sunday 3/1/09

Well here we are again. False hope of Spring and a Nor'easter on its way. So, I pick up my knitting needles and finish the cardigan I have started. My spinning class has been postponed for another week due to the weather.

2/20/09 Day in the Life

Soon I'll be learning how to Spin (not on a bicycle but) on a spinning wheel. I can't wait to find out what others for centuries have known to be peace and tranquility.

I'll keep you up to date on my progress. For those of you who are wondering and questioning whether to try this ancient art.
